What contests will be held at the
Spring Convention?​

After two Town Halls, numerous phone calls and emails, and countless face-to-face conversations with JAD members across the district, the JAD Board has deliberated and decided on a new contest format for the near term. Before completely upending a multi-decade contest tradition, the JAD Board proposed a 3-year test period for a new contest format. This format will be reevaluated again for 2025. At that time, after reviewing feedback, attendance, and changes in membership numbers, if we feel a modification is necessary, the board reserves the right to repeal this policy or modify it further.
This contest format encompasses four independent contests: Men's Chorus, Men's Small Chorus, Women's Chorus, and Open Class Chorus. Each category will have a winner, and the highest overall score will be named JAD Chorus Grand Champion, following the same format used since 2022.
Competing groups may sign-up for whichever contest they choose during registration via Member Center. Individuals are not required to share their gender; the group simply chooses which contest they want to enter using their internal definitions for eligibility per the ​contest descriptions.

Men's Chorus (JAD)
Men's chorus with the highest score

Men's Small Chorus (JAD)
Men's chorus with 20 or fewer performers with the highest score
​
Women's Chorus (JAD)
Women's chorus with the highest score
​
Open Class Chorus (JAD)
Chorus with any combination of genders with the highest score​
​
Chorus Grand Championship (JAD)
Chorus with the highest overall score from any division (Men's, Men's Small, Women's, Open Class) will be crowned the JAD Chorus Grand Champion

BHS International Quartet Qualifier (JAD)​
Quartets scoring 78+ advance to Internationals
​
Novice Quartet (JAD)
Quartet comprised of at least 2 members who have never competed
(includes BHS, SAI, & HI contests)

District Senior Quartet Champion (JAD)
Quartet comprised of members aged 55+, ages totaling 240+
​

Cardinal District
Cardinal District will also be running its own contests concurrently with JAD.

District Chorus Championship (CAR)
Chorus with the highest overall score will be crowned the CAR District Champion
​
BHS International Quartet Qualifier (CAR)​
Quartets scoring 78+ advance to Internationals
​
Novice Quartet (CAR)
Quartet comprised of at least 2 members who have never competed
(includes BHS, SAI, & HI contests)

District Senior Quartet Champion (CAR)
Quartet comprised of members aged 55+, ages totaling 240+
